Eiffel Tower Set to Reopen Later this Month
The Eiffel Tower in Paris has been closed for more than three months due to the coronavirus pandemic. That is the longest closure since World War for the iconic structure and one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world.
Reuters reports that the tower’s management said this week that it will reopen on June 25th. All visitors from 11 years old and up will be required to wear face masks.
Built in 1887, the Eiffel Tower was the world’s tallest structure for more than four decades. It then relinquished the title to the Chrysler Building in New York was created in 1930.
The French government has started to ease lockdown measures from mid-May. But American that are looking to visit Paris will have to wait until a while longer. American Airlines will resume its New York to Paris service on July 7. But as of now, travelers arriving in mainland France from outside the EU and some other European countries are required to comply with a voluntary 14-day self-quarantine upon arrival.
The Palace of Versailles reopened on June 6th while the Louvre museum will welcome back visitors from July 6th.
