1,000 Free Hhonors Promotion Extended

Hilton has created sort of a saga when it comes to them offering 1,000 bonus points in exchange for members changing their passwords. Back in February they announced the promotion only to pull it almost immediately due to a technical issue.

Then after staying quiet for almost a month, they started offering the promotion again on March 12. At that time they announced that all passwords would need to be changed by April 1 and anyone who changed their password before March 25, 2015 would receive the bonus points.

Well today they have changed their tune again. Apparently Hilton has extended the promotion and anyone who changes their password before April 10, 2015 will receive 1,000 bonus HHonors points. From their website:

In order to avoid any interruptions to your account access, we are asking our members to proactively create their new password as soon as possible. As a thank you, if you proactively update your password between March 10 and April 10, 2015, you’ll receive 1,000 Hilton HHonors Bonus Points.

When Will the Points Post?

I actually reached out to my contact at Hilton last week to find out a timeframe for when these points will post, but I haven’t heard back. Many people are waiting for them to post since it counts as activity on their accounts and thus extends out the expiration date of the points. I will update this post if/when I hear anything.

Conclusion

If you haven’t changed your HHonors password then I suggest doing it. Not only is it good to have a more secure account given recent hacks like last week’s debacle at British Airways, but free points are always good.

  1. I changed my password 3 times now. The first time, the password change never took.

However, at no time did I receive 1,000 points. Rather disappointing to bother doing it and not get the points (since they committed to giving them).
