Free Sam’s Club Membership
American Express and Sam’s Club are highlighting their new partnership by trying to lure customers from Costco. In doing this they are offering a very good deal on Sam’s Club membership. By stacking this new Sam’s Club Amex Offer with another promotion, you can make $10 for joining! Let’s take a look.
The Offer
Get a 1X $45 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend $45+ in a single transaction in-Club on a new Sam’s Club Membership at any Sam’s Club location in the 50 U.S. states by 9/30/16. Valid on new memberships only.
Key Terms
- Enrollment is limited.
- Valid only on a new Sam’s Club Membership (Savings, Business or Plus) purchased in-Club at a Sam’s Club location in the 50 U.S. states and not valid on memberships purchased online or by phone.
- Not valid on membership renewals, upgrades, add-ons or additional membership or any purchase of Sam’s Club Gift of Membership or Prepaid Sam’s Savings Membership.
How to Load the Offer
This offer is targeted, although I found it on quite a few of my cards so I believe it isn’t too hard to get. Since it is targeted, the offer can only be loaded via the American Express website and cannot be loaded via Twitter or other social media.
How to Make $10
Update: The terms have now been corrected and the typo (seen above) has been corrected. You will get a $10 gift card if you join on or before July 4, 2016.
While the Amex Offer only gives you a free membership, there is a way to make $10 as long as you join after on or before July 4, 2016. To receive a $10 Sam’s Club (also works at Walmart) gift card for joining:
- Visit this page
- Input your email
- Bring the code that is sent via email with you when joining
afteron or before July 4, 2016
Conclusion
If you have any potential use for a Sam’s Club membership, then this is probably as good as it gets. You basically end up with a free membership plus $10 to spend at Sam’s Club or Walmart. My wife has a membership that is about to expire from a similar deal last year, so perhaps I’ll go and get my own to keep it rolling.

Between Hubby’s 4 Amex and my 12, it was only on one card…my Hilton
The email I got after signing up stated: “Offer valid through July 4, 2016” and the image I received still shows “Get this $10 Gift Card when you join after July 4th!”
I think this is what they meant— signing up for the promotion was through July 4th and joining Sams Club needs to happen after July 4th.
DOC also had a post today and a reader “Anthony” has pointed out that the Amex deal is actually not as good as it sounds. The $45 back is after joining the membership for those additional purchases at Sams.
Anyone with questions, you will be just fine. “TAKE CARE OF THE MEMBER” :)))) would be the reponse from the General Manager at our Club. And, that’s exactly what we do!! :)) In short, whatever it is you have in mind….go for it :))) When you leave happy, that’s what is important to us :))) Sorry, can’t be specific, as I’m not certain, whether or not I need authorization to speak on a public forum. I’m just a frequent traveler, follower of Shawn Coomer, and HAPPY employee at Sam’s. Hope this helps.

🙁 no love
Had a comment and a question for you.
I noticed on the $10 promotion that the terms state “Offer valid through July 4, 2016. ” While the main promotion page explicitly shows “after,” the fine print has it as “through.” Not sure which one to believe..
Do you know if you can apply for a new membership if the old one expired some time last November? I looked around and if I recall it was 6 months lapse, which I meet, but I don’t want to go to Sam’s and have them process my membership and have it listed as a renewal, which would conflict with the amex offer.
