Better Than Free Thrive Market Membership – Stacking Offers For Big Savings

Thrive Market is an online grocer that focuses on healthier products shipped directly to customer homes. Like Costco it is a membership club, but fortunately I have found a way you can stack offers for a better than free Thrive Market membership (We call that Ninja Tricks). Sound good? Let’s dive in.

Update 1/19/21:  The Dosh and Amex Offer are back so you have another chance at it.

Thrive Market Membership Offers

Right now there are a couple of Thrive Market offers you can combine to get what is essentially a better than free Thrive Market Membership. Here are the offers I was able to take advantage of.

  • Offer 1 – $32 Cash Back on DOSH – Cashback app DOSH will pay $32 cashback when you sign-up for a one year membership
  • Offer 2 – $20 off $100 Amex Offer – I found this on all of my Amex cards. If you have an Amex Card looks for the Thrive Market Amex Offer

You can load this Thrive Market Amex Offer to most cards on the American Express website.
  • Offer 3 – $20 off $49 purchase for new customers
  • Offer 4 – Free Gift (~$20 value) for new customers

How the Thrive Market Membership Offer Works

Here is how I stacked offers to achieve a huge discount on Thrive Market membership.

  1. Load the Thrive Market Amex Offer to your American Express card of choice.
  2. Add that American Express card to your Wallet on DOSH and make sure to use this card to pay for your membership and your first purchase
  3. Click through from DOSH to Thrive Market through the DOSH app.

Free Thrive Market Membership

When you click through to Thrive you’ll simply want to purchase a one year membership. On checkout you will pay $59.95 and you should receive $32 cashback via DOSH. A decent deal on its own but you can do so much better.

Ninja Tricks – Stacking Thrive Market Discount Offers

Now that you have your membership the fun begins. When signing up you’ll notice two offers show up for you on Thrive. The first is $20 off your first order of $49+ and the second is a free gift when you spend $49+. You get both of these in addition to the potential Amex Offer and DOSH cashback. Note you’ll pick your free gift when signing up but will get it when you place your first order.

Choosing Your Free Thrive Market Membership Gift

The free gift is nice icing on the cake, but I won’t factor it into our overall calculations. For me there was a choice of 5 items for my free gift from Thrive Market and I chose the CHOMPS Original Grass-Fed Beef Snack Sticks. Thrive said it was a $24 retail value, but I saw the sticks on sale for $20 on their site, so that is the true value. If you aren’t into beef sticks they have Coconut Oil, Face Scrub and a couple of other choices as well.

Placing Your First Thrive Market Order to Stack the Offers

Once you are all signed up you can do this next step directly on the Thrive Market website. This is the fun part! Now you are going to go on your first shopping trip! For my first Thrive Market shopping trip I decided to be as efficient as possible. Since I spent $59.95 on my membership I needed to spend another $40.05 on merchandise to trigger the Amex Offer.

The $20 off and free gift are already loaded to your account so you don’t have to do anything special. Just add the items you want! In my case I bought $60.67 worth of items for $40.67 after the discount. My CHOMPS beef sticks were added automatically as well.

Adding Up Your Savings

Thrive Market often has good prices on niche health products for Keto, Paleo and other lifestyles, but they don’t always have the best prices. As with anything I recommend shopping around. In my case I was able to find stuff at a price that was a little cheaper than elsewhere which fit perfectly considering all of the other goodies I am getting.

So let’s do the math on what I paid and what I received after stacking all of these Thrive Market membership offers.

  • Paid: $100.62 ($59.95 membership + $40.67 in groceries)
  • Credits Received: $52 ($32 DOSH + $20 Amex Offer)
  • Total Cost: $48.62 (You can also subtract out the value of credit card rewards earned if you wish)

Another way to put it is that I paid $48.62 for $60.67 worth of groceries + I received the free CHOMPS (worth $20) and a free membership! That’s why I consider it to be a better than free Thrive Market membership. I was able to pickup items I need for less than their normal cost plus I now have a one year Thrive Market membership for future purchases. I’ve set a reminder in my calendar as well so I don’t forget to cancel before renewal.

Do These Thrive Market Membership Offers Really Stack?

Free Thrive Market Membership

If you are concerned whether or not all of these offers will stack I can confirm that I have received the $32 cashback from DOSH along with the free gift and $20 off offers. I also received an email from Amex confirming that I have triggered the Amex Offer. Everything worked exactly as expected. If you are looking for a Thrive Market membership discount then this is a great deal.

Better Than Free Thrive Market Membership – Bottom Line

After seeing these Thrive Market offers spread about I am glad that I was able to put them together for a better than free Thrive Market membership. I was able to easily pickup the items I needed at a decent price plus I got some goodies and a membership out of it as well. Overall I am happy with the experience and how all of these offers stacked together nicely.

  1. Trying to follow along the “game” here…but in the 2021 version there is no $20 off for new members first time $49 purchase and it also says you must spend $49+ in order to get the free gift. Not saying it is not still a good deal, just not as good as reported above.

    • I was able to find a code online that gave me 25% off, maximum $20. I bought $68 worth of groceries and ended up paying ~ $48. I also got the free oil and salad dressing. That, along with the $32 Dosh cash back for the membership of $59 also got me my $20 off on Amex Platinum personal.
I have have bought from Thrive on 1 month trial membership before and really like their Thrive label product for food and home products.

  2. Super, I had not noticed that the AMEX offer was “in one or more transactions…” more often you have to spend the full amount in a single transaction.
