    Peacock Premium has commercials.

    LONG REPLY
You have to pay $6 more each month for Peacock Premium Plus if you want no commercials. And even then, per the fine print on the sign up page for Peacock Premium Plus: “*Due to streaming rights, a small amount of programming will still contain ads (Peacock channels, events and a few shows and movies).”

$19.99 might seem like a good deal at first, but if you watch a lot, you will be losing a lot of your time to commercials. If you upgrade to Peacock Premium Plus with no commercials for a year, you will pay $19.99 + (12 * $6) = $91.99. That is $27 less than the annual subscription to Peacock Premium Plus [$119.99] and worth it if you watch regularly every month for a year.

Otherwise, if you just want to binge watch a few shows for a few months, you can save money [and time wasted by commercials] by joining at $5.99/month and upgrading to Peacock Premium Plus for $6 [i.e., pay $11.99/month] and then cancel when you are ready.

If Peacock really wanted people to subscribe, they would offer a discounted price on Peacock Premium Plus for a year. As is, unless you upgrade to Plus and watch regularly every month and save the $27 as described above, this feels like a teaser ad that will lock in people to something they will get frustrated with rather quickly. And, of course, all subscription services benefit from people forgetting to cancel after a year and being forced to pay full price for the automatic renewal.

As always, caveat emptor. [And if you accept this offer, put a note on your calendar to cancel before the auto-renewal!]

    • Thank you! This is so helpful. I was about to sign up, then read your note that it has ads. Forget that. And don’t want to pay more for the Plus version without ads, so this is a no go for me. You just saved me a bundle. THANK YOU.
