Reader Appreciation Giveaway

Last week we held the biggest giveaway in terms of number of prizes in the history of Miles to Memories. To enter, I asked readers to leave comments with some of their favorite tips (I will be sharing some of the better ones soon!). People also could earn bonus entries on Twitter and by subscribing to our newsletter. The response was tremendous.

The drawing was done as follows:

  • Each of the 52 comments were numbered from 1-52.
  • The 9 Twitter entries were numbered from 53-70. (They each counted twice.) The first Twitter entry was given both 53 & 62 for example.
  • The 237 email subscribers as of the end of the contest each received two entries assigned in the same manner as above from 71-544.

I used the random number generator on Random.org to generate 10 numbers from 1-544.

The Winning Numbers

RANDOM.ORG Integer Generator

528, 251, 52, 42, 456, 532, 83, 205, 491, 257.

As you can see it pays to subscribe to the newsletter. With the exception of two commenters, all of the other winners were newsletter subscribers! If you don’t want to miss out on any of our great content make sure to subscribe. You may also win a prize at some point!

The Prizes & Corresponding Winners

6 – Gogo Inflight single use internet codes. (Entries: 528, 251, 52, 42, 456, 532)

2 – $15 Walmart e-gift cards. (Entries: 532, 83)

1 – $15 Starbucks gift card code. (Entry 491)

1 – International prize pack including: A handmade spiceboat from Kerala, India and keychains from Kerala, Acapulco & Jerusalem. (Plus a possible surprise or two!). (Entry 257)

The Winners

I have emailed each and every winner with instructions on how to claim their prize. Since a lot of the winners are email subscribers, I am not releasing their details publicly here. The winners have until 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday November 2, 2014 to respond in order to claim their prize. I will then re-draw with the same entries for any unclaimed prizes at that time.

The two winners who were commenters on the original post are: Brian & Nick.

Brian’s tip was, “If you’re ever in Columbus, Ohio, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to Jeni’s Ice Cream.” – Will do!

Nick’s tip was, “Start a business, doesn’t matter how small. It can basically double your miles earning potential.” – Very good tip!

As I mentioned before, I did receive many more exceptional tips, which warrant their own post later on. Look for the best tips from the comments & Twitter soon!

Conclusion

I just want to thank each and every one of you for supporting Miles to Memories. The site has grown tremendously over the past year and I am sincerely grateful for your readership, feedback and support. Have a great Sunday!

  1. 87% of the entries were from the newsletter, yet only 80% of the winners were from the newsletter. It doesn’t “pay” any better than the Twitter entries.
