5,000 HHonors Points on Any Stay!
Hilton has just released the details of a new short-term promotion they are running in addition to their normal Double Points or Miles promotion. This new promotion actually doesn’t suck, although I am sure it probably has limited use given the short time frame.
The Promotion
In addition to our Double Your HHonors promotion, we want to offer you a little boost towards your next reward night. We’re rewarding you with 5,000 Bonus Points per stay at any hotel, now through July 6th!*
The nice thing about this is you get 5,000 points for 1 night stays. This is great for summer road trips with stops at cheap Hampton Inns! Of course 5,000 points is enough for a free night at a category 1, but those are hard to find. There are also quite a few Category 2 hotels spread around that cost only 10,000 points.
Analysis
I’m not going to say this is the greatest promotion ever, but it is nice to see Hilton jumping in with an opportunity to earn some points. Hopefully we will see more of these lucrative, but shorter term promotions, because if I was hitting the road in the next couple of weeks, I would consider staying at a Hilton. (Who am I kidding. I like my Hyatt Diamond status too much!)

I think the 2.5 week length of the promotion stinks. It is better than nothing, but why not make it last at least a month?
Well, if you want to use these points in any decent hotel you better stay many nights using this promotion. How about ask 245,000 HH points for a 1 night stay at the Grand Wailea hotel in Hawaii?
Yes HHonors is a terrible value on the high-end. Save those Reserve free night certs for fancier hotels.
