Another Discount Hotel Booking Site
Hotel Engine is a new hotel booking site which is offering a $25 credit for new members. Unlike other sites like Travelpony which only have a small list of hotels, Hotel Engine seems to have a large selection of hotels available and they even pay you back in rewards after every booking. (Many sites don’t list lower end properties or hotels which have low room rates. Hotel Engine lists $20 Vegas hotels for example, but does not have every hotel in every city.) Additionally, they seem to only have U.S. properties at the moment, which limits the site’s usefulness.
By joining, you get a $25 credit which comes with no minimums. (For example, you can book a $25 room for free!) They also give 5% back in credit for normal hotels or 10% for hotels with the 2x logo. The site also features a number of standard features like reviews, hotel amenities and a map view. They also have a “Walkable Index” which rates how walkable a hotel is. I’m not sure what criteria they use, but I suppose it is useful.
A Review Coming Soon
Now that I have signed up, I will make sure to book a hotel soon in order to review their site. I highly suggest signing up now, even if you don’t make a booking right away. This is a new offer and many sites like Airbnb and others have minimum spending requirements for their new member credits. Hopefully Hotel Engine doesn’t go that route, but who knows.
If you sign up through the links in this post I receive a $25 credit after your first booking, although you receive your $25 credit up front. Enjoy and don’t forget that any hotel booking site should be used as a tool. I always search a variety of sites before making a hotel booking. Enjoy!

no minimum is NOT correct. I just tried to book a $42 rm, said under $50 can only use $10 of credit. So there IS a minimum of $50 to use the whole $25.
It appears they changed this since the article was originally published. I will update when I get to a computer.
It has minimum: For purchases under $50, the maximum amount of credit that can be applied is $10.
Wow then they changed it. As of when this was written last night there was no minimum. Thanks for letting me know.
No international hotels at all.
Thanks. I had thought that I put that in the original post, but somehow I forgot. I have added the information. You are correct. It is U.S. only at the moment which is a severe limitation.

I tried signing up with your referral link. Only shows $5 for signing up?
Hmm. That is weird. When I click through it shows $25. Are you clicking the links in the post? If you go directly to their site without a referral link they only offer $5 for signing up. Perhaps try copying my link and pasting it in Private browsing or Incognito mode.
Figured it out. Looks like te link didn’t like Firefox. I switched to Chrome and it worked.
Great find Shawn! Sounds very similar to the Orbitz Rewards program. They have a $25 sign up bonus and you earn cash back that can be redeemed for future hotel stays.
