Hyatt 25 Unique Hotels Recognition
Last year I bit the bullet and decided to go all in on the Hyatt Gold Passport program. I have stayed at Hyatt’s quite a lot on awards and cheap bookings in the past, but most everything was done in my wife’s name. She was Diamond for awhile so that only made sense. In other words, I really didn’t have many stays registered to my Gold Passport account until last year. *gasp
Then of course I went hot & heavy. First I completed the Diamond Challenge and then I have been working hard towards requalifying this year. I truly love the Hyatt experience as a Diamond and find it well worth it. Qualifying for Diamond status takes some effort and costs a bit, but it is a splurge for which I think I get sufficient return.
I recently stayed in my 25th Hyatt Hotel and today I received an awesome email from Gold Passport. To be honest I was sort of expecting this since I had heard about it from others. In celebration of this milestone, they are giving me 5,000 points. They also had a small game where they showed me 5 hotels and I had to pick the order in which I stayed at them. For completing the game I received an additional 500 points. Score!
FAQ
Here are a few questions I anticipate people asking about this really cool unpublished benefit.
Do award stays count towards the total? Yes they do. While the majority of my stays were Points + Cash, there were a few award stays that did count towards the total.
Do Mlife stays count towards the total? No they do not. I have stays this year at the Luxor, Aria and Vdara that have all posted to my Gold Passport account, but none of them show up on my map and none are part of the 25.
What are the gifts and other tiers? While I don’t know all of the gifts, according to this Flyertalk thread, these are the gifts people have received:
- 25 hotels: 5,000 points
- 50 hotels: 10,000 points
- 75 hotels: Free night anywhere
- 100 hotels: Free night anywhere
Conclusion
I really do like Hyatt and the Gold Passport Program. They certainly get enough coverage on this blog, but that is because I have grown to enjoy my experiences at their hotels. Their attention to detail makes a huge difference and this is an example of that. Even though I knew I had recently passed 25 properties and expected this email, it was still exciting to receive and to see everything mapped out. I can’t wait to reach 50!

[…] I loved getting my gift at 25 properties and I am now closing in on 50 and was awaiting my recognition email. This is sad news. Maybe Hyatt […]
Concur with your general enthusiasm for the hyatt chain — this past year, we stayed with them more than we did IHG or Club Carlson… All nice places; high standards. Soured though a bit on Hyatt re. the recent early ending of the Diamond Challenge. (e.g. 12 nights over 60 days — got contradictory guidance on that. Any word on if/when it’s coming back?) Yet not sure if in the end it’s worth it for us… What again is the lure of diamond status for stays at hyatt properties that already include the breakfast…?
These awards are not automatic I am afraid. Hyatt selects people at random to receive them. Many guests report that they have never received anything despite crossing all these boundaries. Me included!
