World of Hyatt 40 Night Milestone What to Choose
Hyatt Globalist status is known as one of the most rewarding in the hotel industry. Globalists get suite upgrades, free breakfast, waived resort fees and tons of other perks. Additionally, as you stay more nights working your way up through the ranks of status, World of Hyatt throws you some love as well.
Introduced with the World of Hyatt program a few years ago, Milestone Rewards aim to give customers perks as they ascend the different tiers of nights in a year. For example you can earn free nights for staying at different brands plus you get a free category 1-4 cert when hitting 30 nights in a year and a category 1-7 cert when hitting 60.

The 40 Night Milestone Perk
One other cool perk they recently added was a choose your prize option at 40 nights. When World of Hyatt members reach 40 nights in a year, they get to choose one of the following:
- 5,000 bonus points
- $100 Hyatt gift card
- 10,000 points off of a FIND experience
I hit 40 nights back at the end of April and just realized that they gave me 90 days to choose.
Choosing Hyatt 40 Night Milestone Perk
I’ll start by saying I chose the $100 Hyatt gift card. I spend real money at Hyatt so that saves me $100. Some people value Hyatt points at 2 cents+ each but I don’t given my real world experiences. I also looked at some FIND experiences, but nothing compelled me to turn away from $100.
After clicking the link in my email and logging into my account I was presented with the three options and chose the gift card. What really surprised me was how quickly the gift card was delivered! Within 5 minutes I had it in my email. That would have been amazing if I needed it right away and is impressive given Hyatt’s tendency to struggle at times with website functionality.
Bottom Line
My two biggest takeaways from the Hyatt Globalist 40 night prize experience are that you should click the link right away since it will expire after 90 days and that you can really get a great use out of your gift card since you should be able to use it right away.

Today I will hit 40 stays and I definitely will choose the points. At 30K points for a one night stay at the Park Hyatt NYC, the points are worth a lot more than a gift card to me.
Is the 40 night benefit on “real” stays only, or can I achieve it with a combination of credit card earned nights (5k on hyatt card) and actual stays?
It is based on your qualifying nights so credit card qualifying nights earned through spend on the Hyatt card do count.
Are gift cards only usable in the USA? Can it be used to pay for a bookings made on the phone or online? How can one use these gift cards and what is the discussions about these getting hacked easily?
U.S.A. and a few other places but definitely not everywhere. Basically it is a normal Hyatt e-gift card and has the same terms as if you were to buy one from them directly.
I took the points. I went back and forth on it and ultimately decided points save on parking fees (when it comes up) and taxes on bookings; I know two different Tier 1 places I book at least once per year that are $100+; and Hyatt GCs cannot be used in Europe.
Do you have to use the gift card at a single stay, or can break down it across multiple stays?
It appears to be a normal gift card which can be used across multiple stays.
I chose the points. But I totally understand going with the gift card.
The points make no sense. In fact, I’d trade you or anyone $100 hyatt gc for 5,000 points. As many times as you want to do it.
