This is fantastic. I have been a United 1K for a decade or more and have been waiting for them to do ANYTHING to retain my loyalty. I’ve read articles upon articles about how international business travel, a huge revenue maker for airlines, is not expected to bounce back until well into 2022 and yet- nothing for those of us who cannot travel this year for work! No retention offers… and here comes AA asking if I’d like to try get Platinum status or Platinum Pro status with a free challenge over the next few months. I said sure and in addition to the trip I already had planned on AA booked another to meet Plat Pro. I should qualify for that prior to September 30 and be able to register for this challenge and try to get Globalist at Hyatt by end of year (depending on requirements) and then its bye bye United and Marriott for my next year of business class travel internationally, and hello AA and Hyatt! And yes, I’ve told both AA and United this via surveys and conversations with agents that this is my plan and why.
