Hyatt Bonus Journeys 2022

Hyatt Bonus Journeys 2022

Hyatt was en fuego 🔥 with their promos in 2021. There was the reduced Globalist qualification, Globalist Lite as Shawn calls it. There was also the double elite night credit bonuses and tons of other brand specific offers in between.  It looks like it is going to be a regression back to the mean with the Hyatt Bonus Journeys 2022. There is still a lot to like about the promo, and plenty of options to stack, but it isn’t quite the same as this year’s.  That isn’t to say Hyatt won’t be adding on as the weeks go on, as they often do.

NYC

Unpacking These Offers

That is a lot to take in, there are a lot of different promos going on.

Let’s focus on the main Bonus Journeys offer first.

  • You can earn 2,022 (that’s cute 😂) bonus points every second stay. Or essentially 1,011 points per night.  You can earn this on up to 20 nights, or 10 times.
    • The cool thing is award night and free night certs count.
    • The two nights do not have to be back to back bookings.  Can be two separate one night stays.
  • Cheap stays in Vegas during the shoulder season of late January could be a good option for racking up points and elite nights.

There is a secondary promo that could stack with this:

  • World of Hyatt Credit Card and World of Hyatt Business Credit Card cardmembers can earn an additional 1,000 Bonus Points per eligible stay, after registration, up to 10 stays during the promotion period, at 180+ participating hotels across 10 U.S. cities including Boston; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Los Angeles; Nashville, Tenn.; New York City; San Francisco; Seattle; and Washington, D.C. Cardmembers can earn a maximum of 10,000 Bonus points under this offer. For a list of participating hotels, visit here.

If you booked 10 nights at one of these hotels in the cities listed above you should earn 10,110 points from Bonus Journeys and an additional 10,000 points from the secondary promo. That is a total earning of 20,110 Hyatt points for 10 nights, or 2,011 points off per night. Hey let’s party like it is 2011! This is a pipe dream but if there were a category 1 hotel off peak in those cities (not gonna happen) that would only cost you 1,489 points a night. Ah, isn’t it fun to dream?

Even though my totally fantastical dream will never play out it does prove a point. If you can find a good category 1 or 2 participating in one of the cities listed you could rack up some nights for status early in the year at a reduced cost. We will have to dig in more to the participating hotels and see what we can come up with when it is live.

If there are any hotels that qualify for the new hotel promo in these cities you could earn another 500 points from that offer too. That is what we call a triple stack right there!  If anyone knows of some good options for this let us know in the comments.

Hyatt Bonus Journeys 2022 – Final Thoughts

While this is not even close to as valuable as 2021’s promo, as expected, it still has some value.  It should reduce the cost of a few early in the year stays for you, if nothing else. I am still hopeful some type of reduced qualifications for status promo comes out but that may be asking for too much.  I may spend some time digging through the muck of these promos to find a few gems that can create a good mattress running opportunities. If you are familiar with any of the cities listed and have a few options in mind, and don’t mind giving me a head start on my work, let me know in the comments below.

  1. “If you booked 10 nights at one of these hotels in the cities listed above you should earn 10,110 points from Bonus Journeys and an additional 10,000 points from the secondary promo.” The 2nd 1,000 point promo is per “stay,” so you would need to check out & wait a day to check back in or move to a different property. Since you have to stay at least 2 nights for the first promo, that would be a lot of staggering of nights &/or properties.
