Hyatt Regency Bali Reopening Book Rooms

About a month ago I told the tale of one of my favorite Hyatt properties in the world. The Bali Hyatt was one of the first Hyatt properties in Asia, but it became long in the tooth and shuttered in 2013 for what was a planned two year renovation. Unfortunately delay after delay affected the project. (You can find out more about the properties crazy history here.)

When I posted in June, the hotel had finally announced an opening date (Jan 1, 2019) and indicated they would open up reservations soon. While it took them a bit longer than expected to open up reservations, after a launch party last week the hotel is now bookable on Hyatt.com and the news is good.

Prices Are Reasonable

I searched several dates for 2019 and the hotel’s pricing seems to be in line with that of its sister property the Grand Hyatt on the other side of the island. On some dates it is slightly less and on others it is slightly more.

Award Prices Are Insane!

What’s even better though is the news for awards. According to the Hyatt website, the Bali Hyatt Hyatt Regency Bali is still a Category 1 property. Meaning a standard room should only cost 5,000 points per night. For some reason awards aren’t showing, but Points + Cash rates are. As you can see Points + Cash rates are $50 + 2,500 points which is the amount for a category 1.

A Mistake?

They have spent a lot of money on this complete renovation and I am a little surprised that the hotel is still a Category 1. Considering that the Grand Hyatt is a Category 3, I had expected this hotel to come in at a Category 2. Either way, right now you can book at the lower Points + Cash rate and hopefully they’ll fix the award space since standard rooms are available.

How to Book

I believe you can call or tweet Hyatt to get them to book awards even if the website doesn’t show space. Just make sure a standard room is available for the nights you want to book. The standard rooms are the plain ‘1 King Bed’ and ‘2 Twin Beds’ categories shown above in the P+C graphic. I have booked via Twitter several times for hotels not showing award space when they should be.

Conclusion

Having stayed at this property before the renovation and having seen some sneak peaks of what it will look like after, I do believe that this will be the nicest Category 1 Hyatt in the world!

  1. You are not wrong! We are so looking forward to going back to Bali next year. Sanur is so much better spot to stay compared to Nusa Dua, Seminyak/Kuta/Legian (especially for a family). More local places to go eat, get cheap massages, etc. Hopefully they maintained the beautiful grounds and offer similar regency club experience which was fantastic.
