IHG Introduces Dynamic Pricing at Some Properties
IHG confirmed last year that it was testing variable pricing. “As part of a continued effort to enrich the value proposition for our IHG Rewards Club members, we’ll be introducing variable pricing on reward night redemptions. We’re testing new features for a planned roll-out this year,” meaning 2019, it said in a statement.
While that never happened last year, IHG has started introducing dynamic award pricing at some of its properties in Asia now. One Mile at a Time reports that dynamic award pricing is available at select properties in mainland China and Taiwan. Regent Taipei for example ranges between 30,000 to 60,000 points per night. Hotel Indigo Taipei North is priced between 12,500 to 17,500 points per night.
Conclusion
IHG has started rolling out dynamic pricing in Asia and we could soon see it in other regions. IHG has set award pricing, but it never really had an official award chart for its properties. With dynamic pricing we could see some good deals during slow season, but prices could also jump at the most sought after properties in high season.
