Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards Are a Great Perk

Hyatt is one of the most popular hotel loyalty programs and for good reason. Hyatt points can get you great value, and you can transfer from Chase Ultimate Rewards. One of the best perks of World of Hyatt is the ability to earn suite upgrade awards.

Yes, other programs have upgrades as well, but Hyatt is more consistent and reliable when it comes to getting a suite upgrade. There are Suite Free Night Awards, complementary Suite Upgrade Awards through Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards, or you can even upgrade with points on paid stays.

If a standard suite shows up in the search for a paid rate, you should be able to use a suite upgrade award to confirm your it. These rooms show up with the notation “This is a standard suite.” However, you can’t use suite upgrade awards on stays booked with free night certificates.

Where Suite Awards Are NOT an Option

While Hyatt’s suite upgrades work better than most other programs, it is not an option at all their properties. There are for brands in the Hyatt portfolio that don’t allow suite upgrades. Those are:

  • Destination Residences
  • Caption by Hyatt
  • Hyatt Place hotels or resorts
  • Hyatt Residence Club hotels or resorts

But besides these brands, there’s also a list of specific properties where no Suite Free Night Award is valid. Those properties are listed in the terms of the program:

  • Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa
  • Park Hyatt Sydney
  • Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills
  • Hyatt Regency Kyoto
  • Hyatt Regency Wichita
  • Hyatt Paris Madeleine
  • Hyatt Herald Square New York
  • Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa
  • Hyatt City of Dreams Manila
  • Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami
  • Spirit Ridge at NK’MIP Resort
  • Hyatt Rosemont
  • Hyatt Regency Suites Atlanta Northwest
  • Hyatt Regency Lisle near Naperville
  • Hyatt Regency John Wayne Airport Newport Beach
  • Thompson Seattle
  • Chicago Athletic Association
  • The Talbott
  • Hotel Revival Baltimore
  • Hotel Avatar
  • Hotel del Sol
  • Waterfront Hotel
  • Park South
  • The Laurel Inn
  • Hotel Kabuki
  • Alila Manggis
  • Studios at Alila Sminyak
