JCPenney Holiday Gift Card Deal
JCPenney has brought back their very nice gift card promotion from last year. Combined with their current Amex Offer, you can do quite well. Let’s take a look.
The Offer
- Get a $25 off $25 coupon when you spend $100 or more on gift cards through 11/26/16.
- As a reminder, the Amex Offer gives a $10 credit on a purchase of $50+ at JCPenney.
Note: This deal is available both in-store and online, however JCPenney gift cards purchased online are from Cashstar and thus won’t trigger the Amex Offer. Consider this in-store only.
Key Terms
- Limit one coupon per transaction.
- Does not apply to Best Value, Levi’s, Disney Collection, Disney Tsum Tsum, Fisher-Price, Licensed Team Sports Merchandise, Columbia, Nike, Converse, Clarks, Athletic Shoes, Jewelry Trunk Shows, Modern Bride Diamond Vault, Pre-Owned Watches, Garmin, Sephora, Food, Penney Lane, Electrics/Electronics, Appliances, Hunter Douglas, In-Home Custom Window Treatments, Tempur-Pedic, Installed Flooring, Toys, Baby Gear, Personalized Jewelry, Wigs and Extensions, Purchase with Purchase Items, Services, Service Plans, Gift Cards, Furniture Outlet purchases, Closing Store Purchases, current orders and prior purchases, or in combination with other coupon(s). Can be combined with earned JCPenney Rewards.
You can find the full terms here.
How to Maximize
Assuming you have the Amex Offer loaded to at least two cards, you simply want to go into a store and purchase gift cards in $100 increments. The JCPenney registers will allow you to split payment across two cards so you can buy a single $100 gift card in each transaction and trigger two of the Amex Offers. I did this last year across many many cards and never had an issue doing multiple transactions or getting multiple coupons.
Reselling & Redeeming
If you are a bulk gift card reseller, most companies pay above 80% for JCPenney gift cards. This should allow you to make a couple of dollars and keep the coupon for gifts or other purchases. There are a lot of exclusions for the coupon, but last year we were able to find quite a lot of decent items to give as gifts with these coupons. Just keep in mind you can’t stack the coupons, so you will have to use one per transaction.
Conclusion
This is a great deal and one I think a lot of people probably will want to take advantage of considering the value of the coupon and how widely available the Amex Offer was. If you have it on quite a few cards this could be a great way to make a couple of bucks and maybe pickup gifts for friends and family!

Never tried E-gift card, but JCPenney physical gift cards bought online did trigger the Amex Offer.
Right.. The$25 off $25 coupon is very restrictive and does not allow any other stackable coupons except JCP rewards….
