JFK’s New $9.5 Billion International Terminal
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) announced this week a groundbreaking $9.5 billion international terminal, expected to open its doors in 2026.
As part of the extensive $19 billion airport transformation initiative, this terminal, developed by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, The New Terminal One, and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Airports, promises an elevated experience for travelers with curated shopping, cutting-edge design, and tons of dining options.
The New Terminal One will be the largest terminal at the airport with 23 gates and over 300,000 square feet of retail, dining, and lounge space.
A reflection of the essence of the city, the terminal’s design will pay homage to iconic New York City events and neighborhoods, from the Met Gala to the vibrant city parks, while representing all five boroughs.
The new terminal will be built on the sites now occupied by Terminal 1, the recently closed Terminal 2 and the former Terminal 3. Construction will proceed in phases, starting with new arrivals and departures halls and 14 new gates that are expected to debut in 2026.

Looks nice, but I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if it actually opens in 2026.
