Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 Review

In January, 2018 Seoul Incheon Airport’s Terminal 2 opened and became home to Seoul based Korean Air. A few months ago I had the opportunity to fly Korean Air from Seoul Incheon to San Francisco in First Class on their 747-8 aircraft. Before my flight I had about an hour to check out the company’s new First Class lounge in their hub.

Getting to the Lounge

From security it is about a 8-10 minute walk to the Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2. Along the way there are plenty of signs leading the way. The lounge sits on the second level above the main Terminal area. It shares a non-descript check-in desk with one of Korean Air’s Business Class lounges.

Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 – Entering the Lounge

The Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 is very modern and very white. The entry is a long hallway with some magazines, newspapers and lockers. At the end of the long narrow entry the lounge opens up to a semi-large space with a variety of seats towards the right and food off to the left.

Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 – Seating

The Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 has a wide variety of seating options. The entire lounge is made up of various seating areas all with semi-private dividers. I liked that there are areas for groups of all sizes. Whether traveling by yourself or with a group of 3 others, you’ll have space to be together while also having some privacy.

Overall the seating situation is among the best I have seen in lounges. Other First Class lounges have higher quality materials I think, but I really liked the variety of seating types and all of the private areas.

Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 – Food/Drink

Compared to other First Class lounges in airline hubs, this one falls far short when it comes to food/drink. Upon entering the lounge there is a buffet section off to the left with a selection of a few “hot” items (they were tasty but had been out awhile and were cold) and cold items such as cheese/fruit.

Nothing in this buffet stuck out to me as being premium quality, but it was all fine enough. The drink selection was also very sparse. There was a normal selection of sodas/waters and even some local beverage. As for liquor, the selection is far more limited than what you’ll find in even in most business class lounges.

The Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 doesn’t have a restaurant per-se, but there is a small menu with a-la-carte items. After settling into my seat, one of the attendants rushed over with an iPad and asked me to order an item. I didn’t get a chance to snap a pic of the menu, but I had a steak with mashed potatoes and it was delicious.

Other Thoughts

The Korean Air First Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Terminal 2 is very quiet, or at least it was when I was there. At its busiest there were two other passengers in the lounge, but by the time I left I was the only one there. The decor is hyper-modern and comfortable, but it lacks the level of luxury you find in Flagship lounges of many other Asian carriers.

Conclusion

I was excited to experience Korean Air’s brand new flagship lounge in their hub. While I was perhaps expecting a bit more from a First Class lounge, the seating was varied and comfortable, the decor was modern and the food was decent. Had I been looking for an extensive meal or a wider variety of alcohol I may have left disappointed, but it checked all of the boxes for me.
