21 States File Lawsuit to End Federal Mask Mandate

Governors from 21 states have filed a lawsuit to end the federal public transportation mask mandate, claiming the continued enforcement “harms the states” and interferes with some local laws. They have asked a U.S. judge to block the COVID-19 mandate requiring masks on airplanes and other forms of transportation.

State attorneys general joining the lawsuit include Arizona, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Utah and Virginia, Reuters reports.

The filing comes just days after airline CEOs called on the White House to drop the mandate. The lawsuit is the latest in a series of recent legal challenges by pilots and flight attendants.

This latest lawsuit targets the leaders of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health and Human Services, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Department of Homeland Security.

The mask mandate for public transportation was extended through at least April 18 and it will soon be reviewed to make a decision on whether if it should be extended again.

The Federal Aviation Administration says since January 2021, there have been a record 6,900 unruly passenger incidents reported. 70% of those incidents involved masking rules.

COVID-19 cases, and especially deaths, have gone down as more Americans have received vaccinations and booster shots. As of this week, an average of nearly 29,700 new cases have been reported daily and nearly 560 people per day are dying from the coronavirus.

  1. It’s ludicrous that the Biden administration is going to fully re-open the southern border to asylum claims without requiring them to be vaccinated or even covid tested but are requiring vaccinated US citizens with a valid passport to take a covid test before being allowed to re-enter the country.

  2. Hopefully judge could throw out testing requirement too since it’s pretty obvious that it’s unconstitutional to make Americans stuck abroad if they have positive cases and can’t fly back.

I’m just another silent majority dude but I think it’s overdue to leave mask & vaccination decision to individuals

    • There is absolutely no such jibberish in the constitution. You have no idea what you are talking about.

      • Chris, I see you commenting on literally every person’s comment. It is DONE, it’s over! The majority is ready to move on and be done – these arbitrary rules do NOTHING to protect people. Stop lying to yourself. The majority of people are over walking on eggshells around people like you. YOU are the selfish one who is spreading lies – admit it to yourself and you’ll finally be FREE!
