Low-Cost Japanese Airline Adds New Route to United States
A low-cost Japanese airline is expanding its service in the United States with new flights to San Francisco this summer.
ZIPAIR will launch flights between Tokyo Narita and San Francisco International Airport on June 2nd, with tickets already available for purchase. The service to San Francisco will become the carrier`s third route across the Pacific, following Los Angeles and San José Mineta International Airport.
ZIPAIR operates the highly efficient Boeing 787-8 aircraft on its international routes and will initially offer five flights per week between Tokyo Narita and San Francisco. The carrier’s business model provides a convenient low-cost option, allowing more people to connect between the U.S. and Asia.
One-way fares will start at $91, but those prices are for passengers 6 years old and under. Other will have to pay just over $300 one way for ZIPAIR’s standard fare.
ZIPAIR was first established in 2018 and is a subsidiary of Japan Airlines. The airline operates a fleet of Boeing 787 8 Dreamliner aircraft and offers complimentary Wi-Fi on board for all customers as well as carry-on baggage for free (up to 15 lbs). ZIPAIR does charge for most other services such as meals, which can be ordered through a smartphone or tablet.
