Lufthansa Announces New St Louis Route Launching in 2022
Lufthansa has announced plans to launch new flights to St Louis in the US. The thrice-weekly service will represent the first direct, nonstop flights from Continental Europe to St Louis in almost 20 years.
American Airlines previously operated flights to destinations including Paris and London but these were dropped in the early 2000s. Wow Air also briefly served St Louis from Reykjavik in 2018.
The new route is part of Lufthansa’s plans for summer 2022. It will be serviced by an Airbus A330-300, featuring 255 seats. That includes 42 business class seats, 28 in premium economy, and 185 in economy.
These flight will operate Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with the following schedule:
- LH448 Frankfurt to St. Louis departing 10:45AM arriving 1:45PM
- LH449 St. Louis to Frankfurt departing 3:45PM arriving 7:45AM (+1 day)
St Louis is home to several Fortune 500 companies, and is also a hub for medicine and biotechnology. The city and the surrounding areas also have a large German-American population.
With the new route Lufthansa will offer 160 destinations from Frankfurt and Munich, with intra-European connections expected to approach 2019 levels with around 5,000 weekly flights.

A west bound redeye from Europe? Disappointed as an STL flyer.
I think it’s supposed to be 7:45PM arrival into STL. The timing in the article doesn’t make sense with a 3:45PM departure from FRA.
There is no redeye- coming from Europe this is 100% daytime flight…

Not sure why that would be a problem Patrick or why you would click if you already knew what it was going to say? Have a great day though and thanks for reading!
