Marriott Adds More Flexibility to Free Night Awards
Marriott announced today a positive change for Marriott Bonvoy members, adding more flexibility to Free Night Awards.
Starting today on March 12, Marriott Bonvoy members can now redeem up to 25,000 points to combine with a Free Night Award for eligible stays. This is an increase from the previous cap of 15,000 points, enabling members to use them at more properties.
Marriott Bonvoy offers Free Night Awards capped at 35,000, 50,000 and 85,000 points. As of today, you can top them up with an extra 25,000. That means:
- 35,000 FNA goes up to 60,000 points
- 50,000 FNA goes up to 75,000 points
- 85,000 FNA goes up to 110,000 points
Free Night Awards can be redeemed for a complimentary one-night stay in a standard guest room at any Marriott Bonvoy hotel. Award stays have been getting more expansive over the years, so this cap increase will hopefully enable you to use Free Night Awards at properties that were out of reach.
This is rare good news in the world of loyalty programs. But let’s hope Marriott does not increase award rates to match the increased cap on Free Night Awards.
