Marriott Bonvoy Makes It Easier to Transfer Points
When it comes to airline and hotel programs, pooling points is always a useful feature. You might need to pool points in order to have enough for a redemptions, or maybe use the points on an account that has higher elite status.
Marriott has long offered this option, but has now made an improvement to how members can transfer points between Bonvoy accounts. Previously it required a call to customer support, but now there’ a new online tool that makes the process quick and easy.
You can transfer your Marriott Bonvoy® Points to another Member’s Account through the Points Transfer tool.
The Marriott Bonvoy account holder sending the points will need the recipient’s Marriott Bonvoy Name and Number as it is reflected in their Marriott Bonvoy account, to complete the transfer. The First and Fast Name of the Points Recipient must be entered exactly how they appear on the Marriott Bonvoy membership account in order to successfully complete the transfer.
Both Marriott Bonvoy accounts must be in good-standing and have each been open for at least thirty (30) days with Qualifying Activity or ninety (90) days without Qualifying Activity.
Transfer limits remain the same. You will need to transfer at least of 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy® Points, with an annual transfer cap is 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. If you are on the receiving end, you can get up to a maximum of 500,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points, per calendar year, from other member accounts.

Do transferred points expire or have to be used within a certain time frame?
I’m glad to hear that Marriott Bonvoy has made it easier to transfer points between accounts. This is a useful feature that can help me and my family members to pool our points for future redemptions. I appreciate that they have added an online tool that simplifies the process and saves me time from calling customer support. I hope they will continue to improve their program and offer more benefits for loyal customers. Thank you for sharing this news!
So around 1 to 2 nights for most full service properties.
That really isn’t much.
Did the transfer about 30 minutes ago, now the points are not in either account, not sure how it’s that complicated.
