Merrill+ 50K Offer is Back
Bank of America’s Merrill+ credit card 50,000 point bonus has been one of the best credit card offers we’ve seen recently and definitely the best for a no-fee card. Sadly the bank not only took away the bonus, but all online application links for the card died, and phone applications were yielding 25K bonuses for some.
As a reminder, here are some features of the card:
- Earn 1X Everywhere.
- No annual fee.
- Points are worth 1 cent each for statement credits or up to 2 cents each for airfare.
- Get either a Delta SkyClub Membership or a $200 travel credit after $50K in spend annually.
The card isn’t great for everyday spend, but you can get 2 cents per point value towards airfare making this sign up bonus potentially worth $1,000. Even at a minimum cash value of 1 cent, a $500 bonus on a no annual fee card is darn good.
How to Get the Offer
Looks like the offer is back again, online and by phone, although with some quirks. This is the new application page, but it’s quirky and it could show an error when you submit.
I checked application status, and it says that “information you entered does not match our records”. So I am guessing that it didn’t go through. Maybe you have better luck.
You might be safer applying by phone for now, by mentioning application code BAABZX. Confirm that the bonus is 50K.
Conclusion
Calling in to make a credit card application can be time consuming, but this is definitely a bonus worth looking at if you didn’t previously apply. Bank of America is an underutilized bank, so if you have the ability to get new cards with them and the patience to spend about 30 minutes applying, then you should definitely consider this card.

10 inquiries in 12 months and not enough liquid assets to invest with Merrill Lynch for them to offer me this credit card. Boo.
[…] and DDG have covered well the BofA Merrill+ Visa card, with its great 50,000 point sign-up bonus (value up to $1000), upon spending $3000 within 90 days. That’s a great offer for a card with no […]
Wife and I were both approved for this Merrill card. I received my card expedited 2 days later (because I asked).
The phone call was about 20 minutes for me and 13 minutes for my wife.
It seems really long listening to them read all the details but it’s fairly easy.
I also found out by calling the redemption number that points are 2 cents each on airfare for the first $500. When the ticket cost more than $500, the rest is 1 cent per point. It’s a tiered system. So, it’s best to buy a ticket up to $500 for about 25,000 points to maximize the 50,000 point offer.

I just applied online and received an “We’re sorry but we’re unable to give you a decision at this time. What’s next? We are reviewing your application and will send you a letter letting you know our decision. We appreciate your interest. Thanks again.”
It shows up on the online BOA status check as pending. Wondering if I should call the recon number?
Nice! App didn’t work for me.
I think you should call. Last time around lots of people had to call in to verify information and I had to call in to move around some credit.
Called recon and approved no questions. No existing BOA or ML relationship.
Thanks for posting! I’ve had my eye on this card for a while and was disappointed when the pulled the offer. Glad I picked it up.
Welcome! and enjoy!!!
But, maybe give it some time, a few hours. And keep checking application status. Few people on reddit saying it went to approved after a while.
Update: Applied for SO and went into Pending. Then status switched to Approved after 45 minutes.
