MGM Launches Status Match and Challenge
MGM Rewards has launched a new Status Match Challenge. If you present your loyalty card from an eligible competitor at any MGM Rewards desk, you can receive an instant upgrade to Gold or Platinum status, but only for the next 90 days.
To extend your Gold or Platinum status past 90 days, you need to complete the challenge requirements within that time period. Let’s see how this offer works.
Instant Upgrade to Gold or Platinum Status
Visit any MGM Rewards desk in-person and present a valid, current year VIP status loyalty card for an eligible competitor program, along with your valid government-issued photo identification.
Once approved, you will receive an instant 90-day upgrade to Gold or Platinum, based on your current status with another eligible casino loyalty program.

How to Extend Gold or Platinum Status Match?
Once your Status Match request is approved, you will automatically be enrolled in the status challenge with an opportunity to extend your 90-day Status Match upgrade by meeting the following requirements:
- Gold Status Match Challenge Requirement: Earn 50,000 Tier Credits on certain eligible spend within 90 days after your match
- Platinum Status Match Challenge Requirement: Earn 150,000 Tier Credits on certain eligible spend within 90 days after your match
Only Tier Credits earned on certain eligible spend during the 90-day Challenge Period count towards successfully meeting the requirements. If you successfully complete the Challenge requirements, your status will be extended through January 31, 2026.
Conclusion
This MGM Status Match gets you to the Gold or Platinum tier instantly upon matching with an eligible rival program. But if you’re looking to extend your matched status through January of 2026, you need to achieve 75% of the regular Tier Credits requirement within just three months.
MGM also notes that during the applicable Tier Status Earning Year, members must earn 75,000 Tier Credits to be eligible to receive the Gold Tier Celebration dining credit and 200,000 Tier Credits to be eligible to receive the Platinum Tier Celebration dining credit, air travel credit and complimentary cruise benefit. You do not automatically receive these benefits by receiving a Status Match upgrade or successfully completing the Status Match Challenge.

Is this only LV MGM resorts or does it include all such as Borgata in AC?
If you match to platinum but get 50k TC, do you get gold for the rest of the year? Also, does tier credits earned from the credit card count?
