Posts That Caught My Eye

Delta Air Lines May Terminate Interline Agreement with Alaska Airlines and End Partnership

Certainly only a rumor at this point, however it is very believable given they recently terminated their interline agreement with American. Their aggressive expansion into Seattle hasn’t helped the relationship either. I personally don’t think it is an “if” they will sever their partnership, but a “when”.

Delta Air Lines Eliminates the Most Annoying Fee Ever

Delta is eliminating the $25 charge for booking a ticket directly in person or over the phone. This is definitely a junk fee and I’m glad it is going away. The only question now is whether American and/or United will copy like they have been known to do.

Chase Southwest Plus 50,000 Bonus is Back!

Just an FYI that a direct link has resurfaced. For the past six months or so this card has been available only through referrals. Why get the Plus? Basically it comes with a lower annual fee ($69 vs. $99) and fewer anniversary points. Since the AF is paid up front, it is nice to have that option.

Great Deals

  • You can get 250 free Virgin Elevate points by entering the contest at MakeYourHawaiiscape.com. Who knows how many Alaska miles that will eventually become?
  • BoardingArea is teaming up with JetSuite to offer two winners tickets on the inaugural flight between San Francisco and Los Angeles. You will also get free airfare to/from California to participate. Details here.
  • RingPlus will once again be offering free cell phone service on the Sprint Network as part of a flash sale. Details here.

Have a great evening!

  1. While I can not speak for others but was a high mileage AS flyer I really don’t care about DL and frankly don’t think DL cares about AS. It’s clear from “tricky Dickie’s ” moves before his announced retirement that the relationship means nothing to him as CEO of DL, that along with the not so welcome one got flying on DL metal who really cares at this point

The only thing that will be news is the actual termination to which I say sooner the better. For me I would keep an eye on EK / AS

  2. Hopefully, people will smarten up soon and stop supporting big corp who make terrible decisions like this one. Delta doesn’t give two chits for paying passengers, and this is even more proof of that. No way would I ever pay for such abuse!
