Posts That Caught My Eye
The Fine Print: Sorry eBay, My Claim Is Not Frivolous
A story of success when fighting eBay. Sort of. The company’s response to this claim is not surprising to me at all. At least there is some hope if they try to take your eBay Bucks.
This is Amazon’s patent for a flying warehouse
Is the future deliveries via drone dispatched from a warehouse in the sky? Well Amazon has filed a patent for such a thing, but of course we are probably a long way from anything like this. Regulatory hurdles will no doubt need to be navigated. It’s an interesting idea though and reinforces the company’s drive to be more independent on the delivery side of things.
Sears lines up $200 million to help stay afloat with help from CEO Lampert
Good news for anyone holding Sears gift cards and/or Shop Your Way points. I still don’t see an end game for this retailer other than complete bankruptcy, but apparently they will live to see another day/year. Either way Lampert must really love this company since he doesn’t want to let it die.
British Airways Avios Losing 3 Airline Partners
Three of the company’s smaller and lesser known partners are going away. Probably not a huge deal for most, but it is never good to have less options than before.
Act Now – Starwood Dropping Virgin America Partnership
If you are looking to transfer SPG Starpoints to Virgin America so you can convert them to Alaska with a ~63% bonus, then January 6 is your last day to do it. This isn’t unexpected given Virgin’s purchase by Alaska and the generosity of the transfer terms. Thankfully they are giving people notice before terminating the partnership.
