Confirmed! Mlife To Hyatt Status Match Worked One More Time!

There are only two days left before this no longer becomes an option.  If you were dragging your feet on it then you better get it done soon ;).

About a week ago I wrote an article stating that the Mlife to Hyatt status match should work one more time.  I decided to give it a try today after knocking out my airline incidental credits.  I have to get the New Year check list done right :).  When I completed the match Hyatt said I had already completed the match which I thought meant it didn’t work.  But when I went to my account I now had 6 lounge access certificates instead of 2 and my status showed good until February 29, 2020.

The only negative is the expiration date on the lounge certs shows February 29, 2020 instead of 2021. The ones earned last year were given 2 years before expiration.  Although that could just be showing the date for the 2 I have left over and then will adjust when those are used.

How to Status Match

If you have status with MGM and Mlife from gambling, credit cards, or previous status matches then go to this site.

You will be prompted to log into you Hyatt account and that is it.  Then go log into your Hyatt account and you should see the changes.

You may need to log out of your Hyatt account and then log back in again.

Conclusion

This is good news and I am glad I decided not to burn 20,000 Hyatt points chasing status.  I ended up with what I needed one last time without it costing me anything.  That is a win in my book. This is the last year that matching status will still give you lounge access and it must be done before March 1 so don’t wait.

Remember that if you are in need of some more valuable Hyatt points the World of Hyatt credit card’s welcome bonus will be dropping in value by $180 in the next few days.  If you were considering the card be sure to grab it before then.

  1. I tried logging on last night and it said my MLIFE account was nowhere to be found. This morning, I tried again and it went through. I got 4 Lounge Access certs and extended Explorist status for another year!! Thank you so much for great news and updates!!

  2. Yes……..I was checking my APP today because I knew I reached the 5 Hotels needed for an award, and noticed that my 4 club accesses were good through 2021………not complaining one bit!! 🙂

  3. You should check your account again, I also did the match and the extra 4 certificates which were dates as 2020 expiry have now been given the new expiration date 2021. !

  4. mlife gold matches to total rewards diamond, but you dont get the 4 free nights in atlantis and 2 free nights in ceasars palace dubai.

    • Have you called to ask them about it. I believe you still get the 4 nights if you have Diamond status you just get the lower end rooms.

  5. Mark,

The Borgata is matching TR to Mlife still. They are the only Mlife property at this point that is willing to do that.

  6. How to get in on this when you have status in neither?
    Hilton Diamond
    Total Rewards Diamond
    Marriott Gold
    Best Western lifetime top tier

    • I think Mlife was matching to Total Rewards in Atlantic City a few months back but I am not sure if they still are. If you have a MGM casino near you then you could call them up and see. I am not aware of another way to get the Mlife status you would need.

  7. keep getting an error message that it can’t go through. I have Mlife gold and my Explorist expires on 2/28/19

  8. FWIW, my Discoverist status got extended for a year. Had to logout and then login at Hyatt to see the extension.

  9. Can you please clarify? I earned MLife Gold last February on spend, status matched to Hyatt Explorist sometime in March 2018 and they somehow gave me status through Feb 2020 (not 2019) and 4 certificates expiring 2/2020. If I try the match again now, will I get 4 more certificates as it is a new calendar year?

  10. Thanks for the heads up! I kept getting stuck in a loop, but eventually it worked for me, however, my status is good until Feb. 2020, but my certs are only good through Dec. 2019. Odd, but I won’t complain.

    • Hmm not sure. Maybe just being Globalist makes it not work until after that drops on March 1. Which you can still status match then to get Explorist but won’t get the lounge certs which is the main perk of doing it. Sorry it didn’t work out.

  11. Sharing another data point…also worked for me. Got the ‘already connected’ message at Opt In. After logging back in, Explorist status extended for a year with 4 additional Club access awards.

    Thanks Mark and Bill…Happy 2019!!

  12. When I logged into my Hyatt account, it already showed Explorist Feb, 2020 expiration and 4 certificates from last year. I logged out, and did the Opt In thing at mLife. Nothing changed in Hyatt account.

    • Did you earn Explorist in 2018 and that is why you already have status till 2020? If you already have the status set for all of 2019 then I don’t think it is going to do anything since you already have it.

  13. Mark,

Glad there was no hiccups with anything and that I could save you some points. Thanks for following up with this one.

  14. Thanks Mark! I didn’t think it would work as it said I was already matched. I tried it in Safari on my MacBook but I just tried it on Chrome browser and signed out and signed back in and it worked! I had 1 Club Upgrade left but now it shows I have 5! But the expiration date for Explorist still says February 28, 2019 but I assume on March 1, 2019 I can just do the match again for another year.

    This is fabulous!

  15. I want to know why I’ve been a Platinum with M-Life ever since Diamond matched to this years ago and I’ve never stayed at an M-Life property

  16. I got 4 more lounge certs BUT my Explorist status still reads as expiring Feb 28, 2019 (instead of 2020). Not sure if there’s anything I can do about that.

  17. I think Sad Globalist may be like me with Globalist status ending 2/28/2019. Does this mean we may be out of luck in getting the lounge access certificates?

    • I would think they would still populate even with the higher status but I guess not – that stinks. Did you earn Explorist in 2018 or no status at all?

  18. Same here. Have 4 more Club Access awards expiring 2020. Quick question….my daughter is planning a honeymoon to Hawaii, and will stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. I’d love to give her one of my awards so that she can have free breakfasts and snacks. Ever tried to gift an award? I’d have her added to my MLife account, but they weren’t doing that at Borgata last time I checked, and we aren’t headed to Vegas before the matching expires.

    • I would just book it under your name and then add her name as the person check in in the other comments section. Then attach the cert and hope it works out fine. I don’t see them asking but I don’t think you can technically gift it without booking a guest of honor booking as a globalist.

I think it would work though but have not tried.

    • Did you log out of your account and then back in? If you have Gold status with Mlife it should work
