More Points More Play Promotion
Hyatt has announced the details of their promotion for stays during the 4th quarter of 2016. It looks very familiar considering it is the same as a promotion they ran earlier this year. Still, it is simple and actually quite rewarding.
Promotion Details
Here is how the promotion works:
- 5 Nights +5,000 Points =5,000
- 10 Nights +10,000 Points =15,000
- 15 Nights +15,000 Points =30,000
- 20 Nights +20,000 Points =50,000
- 25 Nights +25,000 Points =75,000
The promotion runs for stays from September 1 through November 30.
How to Register
Hyatt announced the promotion via Flyertalk, but will follow up with details on how to register. As of the time of publishing, there isn’t a way to register for More Points More Play, but I imagine the registration page will go live tomorrow.
Analysis
This is a fairly rewarding promotion given the overall value of Hyatt Gold Passport points. I personally have 7 or 8 nights booked during the promotional period, so this will probably inspire me to get to 10, although that payoff of hitting 15 is quite nice as well. Either way, I like simplicity and I like generous offers and Hyatt seems to have both here, especially at the higher tiers. Don’t forget that Points + Cash bookings qualify as well and you can get 10% of your points back through 10/31/2016 if you are a Hyatt cardholder.

I really dont see why this is an amazing promotion. For example Staying 15 Nights gives you 30k pts which only allow you 6 free nights but only at the lowest Cat 1 level. What if I want to stay at Cat 7? Thats one night. I guess I am stupid here cuz all the pros say this is amazing. So its clear I am missing something. I will study this a bit more…
Because 30,000 points are worth about $600. That is a decent rebate per night. I said generous, I didn’t say this was the best promotion in the history of the world. For the right people, specifically for people who already stay at Hyatt properties, it can be very lucrative.

We just love the overlapping promotions that provides Chase Hyatt cardholders a double bang for their buck! Another great timing for us as we are headed to SFO, HKG (for 7 nights) and then (of course) to the Chicago Seminars and doing some pre & post Hyatt stays there as well!
Also see that you are at the Hyatt Zia in Puerto Vallarta, in fact it looks like our EXACT room and location! Antonio and the entire staff were outstanding. We did get quite the welcome upon arrival, but maybe that is just an anomaly (one way or the other.)
Make sure you check with the Concierge to arrange your taxi back; they take care of everything and you get a fixed rate that way!
BINGO! Just got the Hyatt card last week too! Just like you Shawn, about 7-9 nights easy on this with normal, planned trips.
Here are the key questions now – 5,000 and 8,000 pt Hyatt’s galore here in Chicagoland.
1) Can you mattress two different Hyatts same day and get stay credit for both?
2) If #1 is yes, is that Hyatt policy or just what normally posts to your account? Hence, could/will Hyatt claw it back?
Just thinking about most effective way to mattress run this if desired. Any thoughts appreciated by anyone.
I was not planning at all to re-qualify for Diamond, but mattress running 14 stays will do it.
1. I believe you only get credit for one room per day.
Generous? I can get 35k points from two nights at IG hotels through Accelerate, and with Hyatt I’d still be 3 stays away from…5000 points. Even considering Hyatt points are worth more, I have no idea how you can call this “generous”
James you are talking about a very targeted offer and in most cases people cannot get the return you are talking about from IHG. Additionally, the generous part of this is on the high-end (15 or more stays). Just because it isn’t worth a mattress run on the low end doesn’t mean it isn’t generous.
With that said, I do think your IHG offer is generous.
