MtM Vegas – Super Bowl 2021 & Caesars Cuts Back Booze
This week we have so much to talk about including Caesars letting the bean counters win and how Super Bowl made Vegas feel like Vegas again. Before we dive in don’t forget to subscribe to the Miles to Memories YouTube channel to see every episode plus our Vegas reviews, guides and tours!
This Week’s MtM Vegas
This week we talk about Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas. With fairly substantial crowds and sports betting apps stressed to their limits, it was an interesting few days. Thankfully all worked out and many fans ended up with hundreds of dollars in free bonuses.
We also discuss the room renovations coming to Bellagio and Wynn. Shawn loves both while Mark thinks Wynn’s new rooms are a bit dated already. We also discuss Why Tom Brady is the GOAT and how Caesars Entertainment is cutting back booze at some properties. Are bean counters ruining Las Vegas?
Bottom Line
It brought me joy to see people back in Vegas, but the room rates are a reminder we have a long way to go for a full recovery. The true question is what Vegas will look like on the other side of this? Hopefully it won’t be a place with high prices and even cheaper pours. I don’t think that is the solution. What do you think?

On the liquor pours that is crazy. I hate the fact that drinks, even for Diamond and Seven Star members while gambling, are in small glasses. It is very hard to get a “real” drink anymore. What I typically do is order an IPA (most, if not all, have at least one available if you ask) since you get the bottle (or can) and there is no way to weaken that.
We were in Vegas too and it was EMPTY. Depressingly so. Frightfully so. No lines for anything, but a requirement to have reservations for every (open) restaurant above fast food options. We kept wondering: will conventions ever return?
Conventions will take a long while to come back for sure. I do wonder if they will be less popular overall too.
