This Week’s MtM Vegas
This week on the MtM Vegas Video podcast Mark and I dive into the latest Vegas news including a rumor that has been surfacing about a potential shutdown coming to Nevada. Do we think there will be another Las Vegas Strip shutdown or are people just trying to cause some drama?
We also learned this week that Palazzo will be shuttering temporarily and that Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has postponed their opening in January due to market conditions. The bad news continues with the realization that Scuba Santa isn’t coming this year to Silverton, but we do have some good news with the renderings of a brand new In-N-Out coming near Allegiant Stadium that will be a one of a kind and a potential new casino coming to Henderson.

The one thing that might force Governor Sisolak’s hand is if California Governor Newsom puts a blockade or quarantine checkpoint on I-15. There already is an ag checkpoint coming into Barstow and it would be trivial to put that on I-15 and I-40. Florida did that early on in the pandemic. Or California’s public health department could put cameras on the roads leading in and out of the state and filter out the people who look like they’re commuting, and send “we know where you went” letters to the registered owners. I know as Vegas opened during the summer and fall many Californians escaped there to eat in restaurants and drink in bars, and while it may have been fine in July or even October, it isn’t sustainable now.
it’s cheaper to eat at home.
