Citi ThankYou Preferred Spending Offer

New Citi ThankYou Preferred Spending Offer

My wife received yet another Citi ThankYou Preferred spending offer.  These offers are one of the few perks of this card, it is often targeted for 5X earning opportunities.  And since it comes with no annual fee we have kept it open long term.

Details of the Offer

The offer details are as follows:

  • Earn 5X ThankYou points per $1 spent, up to 2,500 points, through 5/31/19 for the following purchases
    • Clothing Stores
    • Computer & Electronics Stores
    • Department Stores
    • Toy Stores

I believe people have said in the past this is in addition to the regular points you earn but I could be wrong there.  The offer came via regular postal mail.  Citi will often send out different offers to different people.

If you received an offer for any of your Citi cards let me know in the comments and I will add them to the article.

Conclusion

This is a pretty solid offer. I really like the computer & electronics store category since Best Buy should work.  I can stack Best Buy rewards, in store Ebates cash back, and 5X earning on 3rd party gift cards.  That triple stack is tough to beat!

    • I am not sure if it codes that way or not. Often Target is excluded for things like this for other banks and I no longer have the flyer to see what it says. I think it might but I would say do a test purchase first.

    • I will purchase gas cards or restaurant cards for personal use or Best Buy gift cards for reselling if the discount is good enough.

    • I know some Best Buy stores sell VGC but not all of them. Not sure if they are $500 ones or $200 ones though since there are no stores near me that carry them.
