Marriott Will Add 19 All-Inclusive Properties
Marriott has announced a significant expansion of its all-inclusive portfolio through a long-term agreement with Sunwing Travel Group’s hotel division, Blue Diamond Resorts. It has an extensive portfolio of resort properties throughout the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico.
The planned expansion will push Marriott into the list of top 10 global all-inclusive players by adding 19 franchised resorts totaling nearly 7,000 rooms across six destinations. That will more than double Marriott’s presence in the all-inclusive segment to 33 properties by 2025. The majority of the properties are expected to be converted into Marriott’s Autograph Collection by mid 2021.
Currently, Marriott’s all-inclusive portfolio includes 9 hotels across Costa Rica, Barbados and Mexico with an additional 5 hotels coming soon in Mexico, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Brazil.

“…adding 19 franchised resorts totaling nearly 7,000 rooms across six destinations. That will more than double Marriott’s presence in the all-inclusive segment to 33 properties by 2025.”
I had no idea that they even had 14 (33-19) AI resorts to begin with so I went to take a look at the website and this is what is listed: 22 COMING SOON with 6 existing/listed. That’s 28 total. So something is not adding up.
Also, I’ve never heard of Royalton before (just not familiar with the brand) so curious as to how it stacks up and compares with Hyatt’s Ziva/Zilara and Hilton (owned and operated by Playa Resorts) as well as other leading brands (e.g. AMResorts).
Royaltons are a rough bunch. Do extensive research before booking.
