New Offer for Amtrak Preferred Card
First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) was recently chosen as the new issuer of the two Amtrak credit cards.
At launch we saw welcome offers of up to 30,000. Then a couple of months ago we saw new offers for 40,000 points. Now the bonus is 30,000 again, up from the normal of 20,000 points, and also comes with double the coupons.
These points are quite valuable, so the bonus can be worth up to $750. Let’s see the details.
The Offer
- Earn 30,000 bonus points after making at least $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 billing cycles of account opening. Plus for a limited time, upon account opening get 2X Coupons:
- 2 Round-trip Companion Coupons
- 2 One-Class Upgrades
- 2 Station lounge Passes
- Annual Fee: $99
- DIRECT LINK TO OFFER
Card Highlights
- Earn 3 points per $1 spent on Amtrak travel purchases, and 2 points on dining and travel, including transit and rideshare
- 20% rebate on Amtrak onboard food and beverage purchases in the form of a statement credit
- 5% point rebate when you book Amtrak reward travel
- Earn tier status faster with 1,000 TQPs (Tier Qualifying Points) each time you make $5,000 in qualifying purchases
Conclusion
If you use Amtrak often, then this can be a good welcome bonus. Amtrak Guest Rewards points are valued between 2 and 3 cents each, so this bonus can easily be worth about $750.
While the bonus was better a few months ago, you now get double coupons which can add some value. The spending requirement is also low compared to most credit card bonuses. You just need to spend $1,000 within the first three billing cycles.
Let us know in the comments if you plan to apply, or how much you value the Amtrak Guest Rewards program.

The lounge passes and the lounge at NYP (Penn Station in NYC) makes all domestic airline lounges look terrible. As a matter of fact, the food offerings are up there with the best international clubs.
