Northeast Alliance, Book JetBlue with AAdvantage Miles Plus More Benefits

JetBlue Airways and American Airlines announced a strategic partnership in July of 2020, called the Northeast Alliance. The partnership promised seamless connectivity for travelers in the Northeast and more choices in domestic and international networks. A codeshare agreement came earlier this year.

Now, as of October 13, American Airlines AAdvantage and JetBlue’s TrueBlue Mosaic members will receive reciprocal elite benefits such as priority check-in, priority boarding and more. Reciprocal points earning was introduced in May. American Airlines loyalty members will also be able to book JetBlue flights with AAdvantage miles soon.

Reciprocal Elite Benefits

If you currently have elite status with American Airlines, you can get similar benefits on JetBlue flights, such as:

  • Priority check-in
  • Priority baggage delivery
  • Expedited security
  • Priority boarding (with Mosaic passengers)
  • Up to two free checked bags (up to 50lbs each)

And, if you have JetBlue Mosaic status (earn Mosaic with $15K spend,) you will get you the following benefits when flying American Airlines:

  • Priority check-in
  • Expedited security
  • Priority boarding (with Group 4)
  • Priority baggage delivery
  • Up to two free checked bags (up to 50lbs each)
  • Complimentary same-day changes to flights
  • Soon – Complimentary preferred seating (by the end of the year)

Redeem AA Miles for JetBlue Flights

Starting in November, AAdvantage members will be able to redeem miles to book flights on JetBlue online at aa.com or by calling Reservations. One-way flights on JetBlue will cost anywhere from 12,500 within the US and up to 40,000 American miles, based on the American Airlines partner award chart.

JetBlue has yet to unveil what award redemptions will look like for American Airlines flights. There’s also no word when it will become available.
