Earn Up to 4,500 Points for Paying Bills with Chase Cards

Chase is sending out emails with offers that can earn you between 1,500 and 4,500 for paying your bills with a Chase credit card. Let’s take a look at the details of this promotion and how you can check if you are targeted.

Update 8/20/20: Mark was able to make small partial payments on his car insurance and it triggered the bonus.  He made them back to back within minutes of each other and the bonus already posted.

The Offers

There are three different offers that are showing up for paying Internet, Cable, or Phone Services bills. If you have a Chase card you can check if you are targeted here:

  • Earn a total of 1,500 rewards points when you pay two eligible bills.
  • Earn a total of 3,000 rewards points when you pay four eligible bills.
  • Earn a total of 4,500 rewards points when you pay six eligible bills.

You must register for the promotion and pay bills by September 30, 2020.

Key Terms

  • To be eligible for this offer, you must activate by 09/30/2020, 11:59 p.m. E.T.
  • Must submit charges to your credit card by the last day of the promotional period 09/30/2020.
  • All of your eligible purchases during the promotional period will be automatically counted, as long as you have enrolled by 09/30/2020.
  • Please allow up to 8 weeks after qualifying purchases post to your account for points to post to your account.
  • To be eligible for this offer, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. Rewards Categories: Internet, Cable, and Phone Services category merchants provide internet, cable, satellite television, radio, cellular, wireless data, and landline services. In addition, if you purchase or pay for your internet, cable and satellite television, phone or related services in a merchant’s store that is not registered by the merchant in the applicable services category, the purchase or payment will not qualify; for example, phone bill payments in a merchant’s store that register to Chase as a telephone equipment store. Utility category merchants provide electric, household fuel, water, and sanitation.

Conclusion

A generous offers for some easy points. Check your emails or enter the card information on the website I listed above to see if you qualify. There is no minimum payment amount mentioned in the offer so any two, four or six bill payments should qualify.

Let us know if you are targeted and which cards have the offer.

  1. Do partial payments count towards the total? If I pay 3 bills, 2 payments each, would that qualify for the 6 total transactions (for 4,500)?

  2. CSR=0, CF=0, CFU=0, Ink Plus=0, Hyatt=0, United Explorer 5X miles on grocery stores and gas stations up to $1500/month of Aug and Sept=15K United miles, , same offer for IHG

  3. British Air received 7X on all restaurant / grocery thru 9/30 and Intercon received 5x (same merchants), but nothing on Hyatt, WN, CSP or JPM-R. Weird.

  4. Can I pay half of my phone bill now and the rest in two weeks? How? That would get me my 2 payments in one month instead of paying full bill for two months. It would cut in half my total spend to get those 1500 pts., giving me a better bonus.
I already have the Ink Biz card and get 5x anyway. I have monthly bills that when 5x, is nearly as good as the offer I get with CSR.
    (am I making sense?)

  5. Mariott Bonvoy Boundless received 10X on all restaurant / grocery 7/15 to 9/15, but nothing on United, Hyatt, IHG, and Soutwest.

  6. Marriott Bonvoy:

Spend $3500, get 10k bonus points.

I was hoping together it on my United Club Card so I could double dip with the PQD offer.

  7. I received the offer for my Freedom unlimited card and defiantly have a question or 2 on how it works.
So if I make 6 payments of $5 each (on one of the qualifying payees) I’m going to get the 4,500 points? And I could do this 6 days in a row or all on one day and get the bonus?
I don’t see anything in the fine print about 6 purchases netting 4,500 pts

“Earn a total of 5% bonus cash back rewards on up to $2,000 in purchases made with your Freedom Unlimited card in select categories: Utilities, Insurance, Phone Service, Cable, Internet from July 1 – September 30, 2020”

    • I didn’t receive the offer but had similar on AMEX, I paid each service once per day 8 payments over 4 days and each received a $5 credit. Bit tricky to navigate the providers’ billing page to be able to pay more than owed into a credit versus owing, but it worked.
