PayPal Business Debit Card Spending Bonus
PayPal has sent out an offer through email to those who have a PayPal Business Debit Card. You get to choose the type of cashback you want to earn for the next three months. Let’s take a look at the options.
The Offer
Limited-time offers are valid July 2 through September 30, 2020. Choose one of these cash back options for your PayPal Business Debit Card:
- Spend $1,000 and get $20 cash back
- Earn 1.25% cash back on all purchases
If you don’t choose any of these options, you will keep earning 1% Cash Back on all eligible purchases. You should see the offer here after you log in.
Key Terms
- For first option, $20 bonus cash back will be earned when you make $1,000 in purchases with your PayPal Business Debit Mastercard. An additional $20 cash back will be earned for each subsequent $1,000 in purchases. For example, spend $1,000 earn $20. Spend $2,000 earn $40. Transactions that are not eligible for bonus cash back include, but are not limited to: cash withdrawals, cash advances, and the cash-back portion of any point-of-sale purchase. There is no cap on cash back earned based on required spend thresholds.
- For second option, bonus cash back include: credit transactions which you sign for and which are processed by Mastercard; online transactions processed by Mastercard; purchases processed via a debit network (including PIN-less debit transactions); and phone transactions processed by Mastercard. Transactions that are not eligible for bonus cash back include, but are not limited to: cash withdrawals, cash advances, and the cash-back portion of any point-of-sale purchase. Bonus cash back will be added to the PayPal account associated with the PayPal Business Debit Card that completed the eligible transaction(s) within 30 days of qualifying purchase settlement.
Conclusion
Good offers for a debit card. But I suspect most readers will already have credit cards that earn 2x on all purchases. Could still make sense for some purchases that might charge lower fees for debit cards.
