What is Personal Capital

Personal Capital is a free service, similar to Mint, that acts as your financial dashboard. It provides a one stop shop to track all of your spending and income by adding bank accounts and credit cards. Their website provides tools to help you manage your investments portfolio, asset allocation and retirement planning as well. All of these services are provided free of charge. If you have large balances, then Personal Capital provides you financial advisers for a fee.

Refer Others?

Once you sign-up you may be targeted to refer others. Not all people who sign-up receive a referral link that offers a bonus. This link clearly shows the bonus when signing up. Make sure any link you offer to friends shows the same!

Conclusion

Both my wife and I signed up during previous deals and we received our Amazon gift cards within 24 hours of linking our investment accounts. While Personal Capital does want to convert you to a paying client, they have all but left me alone after I politely declined one of their inquiries.

For me it was worth quickly linking an investment account. Enjoy that Amazon funny money!
