Popular Destinations That Have Dropped Most COVID-19 Travel Restrictions
Travel demand has quickly spiked this summer. After two years of lockdowns, people are eager to make up for lost time and get back to traveling. And as Covid-19 gets under control, now you have more options as far as destinations go.
Restrictions have been dropped in many countries and you no longer need to quarantine. But other requirements such as testing and mandatory insurance have also been removed, making traveling abroad just a bit cheaper.
TravelPulse has now put together a list some of the notable destinations around the world where you can visit without any major restrictions. So if you’re looking for ideas on where to go next, here’s a list for you:
- Anguilla – The Ministry of Health announced that beginning August 8, all fully vaccinated travelers entering Anguilla no longer need to present a recent negative pre-arrival test. Unvaccinated travelers only need to provide a recent negative pre-arrival COVID-19 test result; no quarantine or post-arrival testing is required.
- Australia – Travelers to Australia can visit the country without worrying about COVID-19 travel restrictions since July 6, 2022. The new order means that those entering Australia will no longer need to show proof of vaccination. This follows the lifting of quarantine restrictions and COVID-19 testing requirements.
- Bahamas – As of June 19, fully vaccinated travelers to the Bahamas no longer need to present a recent negative COVID-19 test to enter the islands, provided they show proof of full vaccination upon entry. Unvaccinated travelers aged 2 and older must present a negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen or RT-PCR test taken no more than three days prior to arrival.
- Barbados – Government officials dropped a three-day quarantine period for unvaccinated visitors who test negative at the airport upon arrival. All unvaccinated travelers must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days before arrival. Vaccinated travelers no longer have to take a coronavirus test before visiting Barbados.
- Belize – The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has decided to remove all public health measures at every land and sea point of entry to the country. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is no longer required for any persons traveling to Belize. Purchase of insurance is now optional, although still encouraged, as a form of protection against incurring medical and non-medical emergency expenses.
- British Virgin Islands – As of July 15, the British Virgin Islands is no longer requiring visitors to present a negative COVID-19 test result to gain entry. “Currently the statistics are revealing that the virus is having a very minimal impact on those affected and the mortality rates have decreased significantly. That is why we feel at this stage we can re-open the borders and return to pre-COVID normal with regards to travel to the territory,” Minister for Health and Social Development Marlon Penn said in a statement.
- Cayman Islands – The Cayman Islands eliminated pre-arrival testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers and lifted mask mandates for indoor spaces on June 30. Nonetheless, visitors must still complete a travel declaration at least 72 hours prior to travel and have insurance that covers COVID-19.
- Chile – The Protected Borders Plan, which the Ministry of Health has had in place since its reopening, has lowered the country’s alert level to its lowest level, Alert Level 1, ending the enforcement of travel restrictions such as mandatory vaccination or testing, providing pandemic-related travel insurance and more. However, visitors will need to be fully vaccinated in order to receive a Mobility Pass.
- South Africa – South Africa’s government dropped all of the country’s remaining pandemic-era restrictions last month, after the Presidential Coordinating Council and Cabinet determined that they’d served their purpose and were no longer needed. Travelers no longer need to show proof of vaccination or do any testing prior to entering the country.
- Thailand – Thailand ended its “Thailand Pass” program on July 1, meaning fully vaccinated travelers can enter with proof of full vaccination. Meanwhile, travelers ages four to 17 can visit with at least one dose of the vaccine administered at least two weeks prior to their arrival date. Unvaccinated travelers will need a negative RT-PCR test or a medically administered ATK test taken within 72 hours of travel.
