Some Priority Pass Lounges Are Now Charging for Bookings

Priority Pass has one of the largest networks of airport lounges with over 1,200 locations all over the world. Priority Pass membership comes as a free perk with several credit cards. While that’s a great benefit for cardholders, it has also brought some overcrowding issues. Now they are offering a booking option at some locations with a fee that guarantees you entry.

This option is currently available at No1 Lounges in the UK. By paying a fee of just £5 ($6.60) per person you will be securing your entry to the lounge. The fee applied to adults and children aged 2-11. The reservation fee is an additional charge, which secures a place for you in the lounge. The visit itself will still be processed through your Priority Pass Membership. Here’s the lounges that have this option:

  • Birmingham (BHX)
    • No1 Lounge
  • London-Gatwick (LGW)
    • My Lounge (North Terminal)
    • No1 Lounge (North Terminal)
    • No1 Lounge (South Terminal)
  • London-Heathrow (LHR)
    • No1 Lounge (Terminal 3)

Conclusion

The new booking option for about $6.60 is only available at a handful of lounges in the UK. There’s other lounges in those airports that don’t have the fee, and even a restaurant. While this is a small fee that guarantees you a place to relax, it’s also an added expense for a service that you thought was included in your credit card’s benefits.

  1. No 1 has done this for years, it is only now that PP lets you do it via their app.

It also gets you fast track security at most of the airports they cover.

There are alternatives at all of the above airports so no need to pay if you don’t want to. No 1 is a victim of its own success because the lounges are so good that a lot of airlines have started using them for premium and status pax and these means less space available for cardholders.

  2. Interesting… (Elmer Fudd voice) vewy intewesting. Wonder how long it will be before other Priority Pass lounges start doing the same. This is clearly a genius/dastardly move to monetize peak overcrowding issues and travel anxiety. Similar in concept to Disney’s (line-jumper) Fastpass and airlines charging to reserve (favorable) seats.

Coming soon to a Priority Pass lounge near you…
