Puerto Rico to Ease COVID Entry Requirements
The governor of Puerto Rico announced that coronavirus-related restrictions have been lifted as COVID-19 cases continues to drop in the island.
Starting this Thursday, domestic visitors from the United Sates will no longer need to show proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test to enter Puerto Rico and don’t need to complete the Travel Declaration form.
You stay in the island will also see some positive changes. Masks will no longer be required in indoor or outdoor venues, with some exceptions, Governor Pedro Pierluisi said Monday. Certain areas, such as health facilities, will still require face coverings. Officials recommend that people continue to wear masks indoors when the vaccination status of others is unknown.
“Traveling to Puerto Rico is becoming easier as the island continues to lead vaccination efforts and contagion rates continue to decrease,” Discover Puerto Rico CEO Brad Dean said. “Today’s announcement lifting entry requirements for domestic travelers and reducing restrictions on Island, will bring a new travel experience to those visiting.”
Besides a drop in new cases, Puerto Rico also has a high vaccination rate. More than 95 percent of Puerto Ricans have received at least the first dose of the vaccine, nearly 86 percent received the second dose and more than 50 percent have received a booster shot.
