Sprint AAdvantage® Summer Promos

While saving up frequent flyer miles is fun, one of the single best ways to get ahead is to save money on bills that you are already paying. I know one of my biggest monthly expenses is cell phone service and I am always looking at a great deal to bring that cost down. Thankfully Sprint has a number of promotions going on right now that I think present an excellent value for switching to their service. Let’s take a look.

The Offers

Currently Sprint has a number of offers that stack together to provide a great value. Let’s take a look at each one individually.

Earn 25K AAdvantage® miles

This is a miles/points blog, so lets start with this great promo. You can earn up to 25,000 AAdvantage® miles by signing up for new Sprint service and registering your account on the Sprint promotional website

Here is how you earn the miles:

  • Earn 20,000 when activating a new Sprint account. (Requires new Sprint account with 1 new phone line activation.)
  • Earn 417 miles per month for the first 12 months. (5,004 miles total.)

$90 Unlimited Plan

While its nice to earn some miles, the actual bill matters too. Thankfully Sprint has a pretty good deal on their Freedom Unlimited Plan as well. For just $90 per month plus taxes/fees you can get up to 5 lines of unlimited service. This promotional pricing remains in effect until 6/30/18 and requires autopay.

Here are the terms:

Savings until 6/30/18; then customers will pay $60/mo, for line 1, $40/mo. for line 2 and $30/mo./line for lines 3-10. AutoPay discount applied w/in 2 inv. Includes unlimited talk, text and data. Streams video at up to HD 1080P, music at up to 1.5mbps, gaming at up to 8mbps. Data deprioritization during congestion. MHS, P2P and VPN reduced to 2G speeds after 10GB/mo. Other month charges apply.

$400 Visa® Gift Card

Now that we have the miles & rate plan figured out, how about some real money! If you sign-up for 3 or more lines of Sprint’s Freedom Unlimited Plan, then you also receive a $400 Visa® gift card! The only requirement is that you sign-up for at least 3 new lines on the Unlimited Freedom Plan and port in a phone number.

Visa® Gift Card Terms:

Req. new acct, activ. with 1 ported line on Unlimited Freedom Plan.

Phone Specials

a couple of cell phones

Finally, we need to talk phones. Sprint is also running a couple of good specials on flagship phones from Apple & Samsung.

Buy 1 Get 1 iPhone – If you lease any iPhone 7 ($27.09/mo) or iPhone 7 Plus ($32.09/mo) then you can get an iPhone 7 32GB for free after $27.09 monthly service credit on an 18 month lease.

OR

Up to 50% Off Galaxy S8 – Save 50% off a Samsung Galaxy S8 lease, getting it for only $15.63 per month for 18 months.

Analysis

Obviously the miles & $400 are nice and I don’t think you can currently do much better than $90 per month for 5 lines of Unlimited Service on a major national carrier. Sprint also has their Global Roaming service which includes low speed data and text for free in 165 countries.

As for the phone specials, keep in mind the iPhone deal relies on bill credits to get you the free phone, meaning if you end service early you will owe the balance. On the flip side the Galaxy S8 deal is discounted up front which is nice if you don’t want to rely on bill credits. Both options are significant discounts over paying retail.

Conclusion

When combining the 25,000 AAdvantage® mile promo, $400 Visa® gift card, $90 Freedom Unlimited service for a year and phone discounts this really shakes out to be a fantastic deal. I personally am contemplating a switch to Sprint since this will save me a lot of money over my current plan and their Global Roaming is definitely appealing as well.

  1. Hello,

Just saw the Sprint AAdvantage offer just increased to 25K miles right off the bat and 5K for each year. Used to be 20K off the bat and 5K for the year.

If you are thinking about switching to Sprint, you might as well register your AAdvantage #, as this deal stacks with every current Sprint deal out there (phone and plan deals), with the exception of corporate discounts.

Also, as usual, existing Sprint customers can register their AAdvantage #s and start earning 5,000 miles per year. Easy way to keep your AAdvantage miles active as it posts as 417 miles per month.
