Switzerland Will Lift All Covid-19 Entry Restrictions in May
Switzerland will soon welcome all travelers once again without any pandemic-related restrictions and requirements. The entry restrictions will be lifted on May 2nd.
The announcement was made by Switzerland’s State Secretariat of Migration (SEM), reverting back to pre-pandemic-related travel entry rules.
“The entry restrictions currently in place will be lifted from 2 May. As of that date, the usual rules for entering Switzerland will apply. You will find information about visas, travel documents, etc,” SEM said on Twitter.
Switzerland has been open to visitors since June 2021, but with Covid-19 restrictions in place. Until May 2nd, US travelers who are not vaccinated are not permitted to enter, with few exceptions. A Covid-19 recovery certificate is also acceptable until then.
The new entry rules start applying on May 2nd, which means that travelers will no longer be required to show any Covid-19 related documents. They just need to follow normal procedures such as having a valid passport or visa. For Americans that means having a US passport that is valid for at least three months beyond your departure date.
Switzerland is currently listed as a Level 3 destination by the CDC. That is considered the highest level of risk on the new rankings for now, same as most other European countries.
