United Airlines Makes MileagePlus Program Changes
United Airlines has announced changes to how MileagePlus members will earn elite status in 2024. While the requirements are staying the same, the airline is making it easier to achieve status through co-branded Chase credit cards.
Earning United MileagePlus Premier Status
United MileagePlus will have the same elite requirements for 2024, where you qualify for status throughout 2025. Your progress is measured by though Premier Qualifying Flights (PQFs) and Premier Qualifying Points (PQPs).
Here are the requirements for each tier:

PQP Boost for MileagePlus Elites
Premier members get a head start in 2024 with automatic PQP deposits. All members with full Premier status on February 1, 2024, will get extra PQP added to their account. The number of PQP is based on status level you already have.
Members who are in Trial status will not be awarded bonus PQP for 2023.
Earning PQPs with MileagePlus Credit Cards
This is an ongoing trend from airlines, as they look to rewards cardholders who spend big, and not just on flights. United is making it easier to earn status but just using your cards more often.
Starting in 2024, United Airlines will reward customers with 25 qualifying points for every $500 they spend on Chase co-branded cards. Currently, customers get 500 points for every $12,000 spent. With this change, you’ll achieve 500 PQP after just $10,000 in spending.
All card-earned PQP will now count toward each status level, including the PQP-only requirement for Premier 1K status.
Starting in 2024, you can earn even more PQP annually with the United Club Infinite Card. The new limit is now 10,000 PQP from qualifying purchases on your United Club Infinite Card, up from 8,000 PQP in 2023.
United Airlines is also removing the annual cap of 15,000 PQP. That means that you can earn more from qualifying spend across multiple eligible United MileagePlus credit cards issued by Chase.
