United Will Add Mileage Pooling Feature
United Airlines plans to introduce a new feature to its MileagePlus program which should make award booking easier. he news was first shared by @xJonNYC on Twitter, who also revealed some of the details.
- Friends and family will be able to join a group and add miles to a collective account.
- Groups may have up to 5 MileagePlus members.
- You can only be a member of one of these pools at a time.
- Each individual decides how many miles they want to put into the pool.
- Once miles are in the pool, those miles can be used based on how the pool leader had set up.

Conclusion
There are several airlines that already offer points pooling. That includes Air Canada’s Aeroplan, British Airways, JetBlue and more, which offer different forms of this feature.
United is the first major domestic carrier to offer points pooling, and that can be beneficial for its millions of MileagePlus members. It makes awards more accessible.
Once United launches this feature, it will be interesting to see how long it takes for other major carriers to follow.
