Vietnam Airlines Offers SkyTeam Elite Status Match

Vietnam Airlines has launched a paid status match promotion which can earn you up to top tier Lotusmiles status and also SkyTeam elite status.

Customers who have frequent flyer status with an eligible airline loyalty program can apply for a Status Match. Eligile airlines include United, American, Southwest, Alaska and many other foreign airlines. Once eligible customers pay the application fee and are approved, they will receive 12 months of Titanium, Gold or Platinum status as determined by the Status Match process.

Requests for a Status Match can be made directly on the Vietnam Airlines Status Match page. Customers are informed within three business days if approved, and the new status will appear on their accounts within five business days.

USA residents will have to pay $99 for 12 months of Lotusmiles Titanium, $159 for Gold and $299 for top tier Platinum.

While not many people will be able to enjoy Lotusmiles benefits, Vietnam Airlines is also a member of SkyTeam. That means that Lotusmiles status gets you SkyTeam Elite or SkyTeam Elite Plus status. SkyTeam status can get you free checked luggage, priority check-in and boarding, priority waitlist, preferred seating, and airport lounge access with some limitations.
