This Week’s MtM Vegas
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas opened this past week with a lot of buzz and a lot of people leaving disappointed. Our friend Rick from Travel on Points was there on opening day. He didn’t just attend the grand opening but stayed in the hotel as well. Check out his written review over at Travel on Points and checkout our detailed video below.
In this MtM Vegas episode, we give a fully detailed Virgin Hotels Las Vegas review including what to expect at the property. We also discuss the opening day experience both in the hotel and casino including how they dropped the ball in many ways and what they got right. From not having hotel rooms ready to no pool, it is clear the place wasn’t ready for prime time.
Rick will also talk about his overall impressions of the décor including which places got it right and which didn’t. With so many operators at Virgin it does sort of feel all over the place, but there were some highlights. Mostly though it seems this launch was messed up in many ways leaving guests unhappy and many wondering how this could have happened.
Bottom Line
I had such high hopes for Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and with Rick’s experience plus negative thoughts from many others on social media that excitement has been tempered. I’ll check out the hotel myself in a few weeks, but I think it is safe to say Virgin Hotels Las Vegas screwed up its launch and that is quite the shame. What do you think?

Shawn, please include the embed code to YouTube for the video. The original draft of this post does not have it. Watched the video on YouTube directly — great conversation that mixes some successes with a lot of failures at Virgin. I think the biggest part of conversation that many people may not realize is that they are a licensee only. They have ZERO involvement with the property.
Hey Ted. Boy I must have been tired after editing that video and posting it. I totally meant to include the embed and appreciate you pointing this out. It has been added and I assure you we will always embed the video (when I don’t forget.) 🙂 Thanks for clicking over to YT and watching though! And thanks again for letting me know!
They kicked out several of my favorite Vegas vloggers on opening night for filming, including All You Can Vegas and Not Leaving Las Vegas. Very short sighted and it turned free publicity into bad publicity. I’ve visited Vegas over 50 times in the past 20 years, and Virgin is om my list of places to avoid.
I saw that and it really is boggling to me why they would do that. Thanks Les!
The Flamingo’s launch was a pretty epic disaster. For me, that will always be the worst Vegas hotel launch.
