Walmart and Capital One to End Partnership
Walmart revealed today that it has ended an agreement with Capital One which made it the exclusive issuer of Walmart Consumer Credit Cards.
Walmart teamed up with Capital One back in 2019 for its One Walmart Rewards Credit Card Program.
While Capital One and Walmart have ended their card partnership, the two companies said that nothing changes today for cardholders. They can still continue to earn and redeem rewards, and they can still use previously accrued rewards.
The partnership seem already doomed, as Walmart had accused Capital One of missing the mark in a number of “critical” customer care categories, such as failing to promptly post transaction information to cardholders’ accounts, and not delivering replacement cards within five days.
For cardholders is business as usual for now. They can use their Capital One Walmart Rewards® Card wherever Mastercard is accepted and the Walmart Rewards® Card for purchases at Walmart.
Capital One will retain ownership and servicing of the credit card accounts. Additional information will be provided in the coming months to Walmart credit card holders, and most likely product changes are coming.
