Wells Fargo Propel Cards Are Going Away
The Wells Fargo Propel and Propel World credit cards are soon going away. The information comes from reddit, citing internal documents.
Wells Fargo will discontinue both Propel cards on April 19, 2021. While the cards will no longer be available for applications after that date, existing cardholders will be grandfathered.
The Propel World card is the more interesting option, with a $400 bonus and $100 in airline incidentals. And if you want to get it before it’s gone, you can still do so.
Update: No Longer Available
Current Offer and How to Apply
Here’s the offer:
- Earn 40,000 bonus points (worth $400) when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.
- 0% APR for 12 months
- Annual Fee: $175 (waived first year)
Applications haven’t been available online for a while now. But you can still apply over the phone, or by visiting a local branch. Just make sure that you apply for the Wells Fargo Propel World card, not Wells Fargo Propel.
Card Highlights
- Earn:
- 3x points per dollar spent on Airline transactions
- 2x points per dollar spent on Hotel transactions
- 1x points per dollar spent on everything else
- Points can be used at a value of 1 cent each for gift cards, cash back, or travel.
- Up to $100 in reimbursements each year for qualifying incidental airline charges like airline lounges, baggage fees, and more.
- No foreign transaction fees
- Complimentary room upgrades and more from the Luxury Hotel Program
Wells Fargo Propel American Express Card
The no fee Wells Fargo Propel American Express card currently has the following welcome offer:
- 20,000 points (worth $200) after spending $1,000 within the first 3 months
- No annual fee
- No foreign transaction fees
The card has the following earning rates, which are very solid for a no fee card:
- 3X earning on dining, select streaming services, gas, and travel
- 1X earning on everything else
Conclusion
Wells Fargo Propel World card gives you good value during the first year. The fee is waived, you get a signup bonus of $400 and $100 credit for airline incidentals.
The no fee version offers decent value and a pretty good earning structure for a no fee card. I wouldn’t apply for this card unless you are already above Chase 5/24.
Call or visit a branch now if you are interested in applying.

Wonder if the WF cash visa is going away as well. Thinking about the cash signup bonus for that card.
