Wyndham is At It Again… Promo Terms Changed Without Notice!!!

Back in November, Wyndham and Visa Checkout released a promotion that could earn you 15,000 bonus points. You just needed to book by 1/31/18 using Visa Checkout and complete your Qualified Stay by 2/28/18 to earn bonus points for up to 3 stays. Each of the first three stays during the promotion would earn the following bonuses:

1st stay = 3,000 bonus points
2nd stay = 5,000 bonus points
3rd stay = 7,000 bonus points

Wyndham Changes Promotion Terms

Wyndham has changed promotion terms in the past and they’re at it again. The promotion mentioned above actually ended on 1/18/2018. Meaning that any stays after that date did not earn the bonus points. What’s worse, members weren’t given any notice at all of these changes. It all came out when people weren’t seeing the additional points in their accounts.

Conclusion

Wyndham has done this a few times and they continue to bait and siwtch on such promotions. They’ve even canceled promotions before they began. Now they have a similar promotion running, if you’re willing to tryst them that they will honor the terms.

As for those who lost out on points due to Wyndham changing the terms of the previous promo, I would suggest giving them a call. Maybe they can offer some kind of compensation in points, even if not the full amount you would have earned.

I can’t believe that Wyndham keeps doing this. They’re a major hotel chain that should think out these promotions more thoroughly and not just pull them or change them due to high demand. Customers in general and especially loyalty program members expect a company to honor what they offer. Instead we’re seeing Wyndham using this bait and switch tactic several times. These free night promos are good, but if you’re having to deal with these headaches they might not be worth it.

Were you affected by this? Do you trust them enough to go for the current promotion? Let us know!

  1. Interesting. I’d not known about these issues, except for the one that ended before it began. I’m currently 1 stay out of 2 for the current promo, and hope to complete the second next week.

The couple previous promotions I have participated in have turned out fine, and I have my second award stay booked with them next month at the Silverado Resort in Napa. So far I’ve gotten serious value out of the program. We’ll eclipse $1,100 in value for $69 x 4 in annual fees, plus we are still sitting on 60,000 points. I’m still bullish on the program.

  2. I keep telling people; Wyndham is NOT a good program. It’s not just the below average quality of most properties it’s the way the always seem to change promo’s and no honor things.
